Twenty minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip is an indoor axe range called Axe Monkeys. The facility has 23 axe throwing lanes and 1 rage room. After throwing axes for an hour, I redeemed my $29 groupon for 20 minutes of rage time, a free medium smash item (ex a printer or a monitor), and a pair of Axe Monkeys sunglasses. After redeeming my groupon, I learned that it would have been cheaper to book the rage room directly through Axe Monkeys.

There are two ways to book the rage room through Axe Monkeys:

1) Purchase items from Axe Monkeys to destroy. With this option, guests only pay for the items that they smash. They are given free time in the rage room to destroy the items that they purchase. The amount of time given depends on the size of the objects and the number of objects purchased. However, guests must purchase a minimum of $15 worth of smash items to get access to the rage room.

2) Rent the rage room. If you want to destroy multiple items then it is cheaper to bring your own items. Axe Monkey charges guests who bring their own items a fee of $20 to use the rage room for 20 minutes. However, they limit what items can be brought into the rage room (ex. no tube tvs, no refrigerators, no items with fluids).

To use the rage room, guests must must be at least 18 years old, wear close-toed shoes, and sign a waiver. After signing a waiver, an Axe Monkeys employee gives you a tour of the rage room and shows you the additional smash items available for purchase. Each item is clearly marked with a price.

I selected a printer for my free smash item and purchased 4 additional bottles for $3 each.

Next, the employee goes over the rules of the rage room and provides you with safety equipment (i.e. face shield, gloves, a jumpsuit, and boots). While you get dressed in the protective gear, the employee sets up the room with your smash items.

Inside the room you select a weapon. Weapons include custom bats, a sledgehammer, and a metal pipe.

You then select music for your smashing session.You can play a playlist from your android or apple phone or listen to a playlist created by Axe Monkeys.  .

The employee signals the start and end of your session by knocking on the door 3 times. Guests are monitored via a security camera. The footage is recorded and is shown on a tv outside the door. The session ends when your time runs out. You can also end your session at any time by waiving your arms 3 times in front of the security camera.

After the session, you return the protective gear and leave the mess for Axe Monkeys to clean up.
